Right up there with the first sip of morning coffee is my other favorite part of the day - the drive along Lake Michigan to my downtown studio. Though I take this route every day the changing light patterns, layers of color and mood of this huge body of water is a wondrous thing and never the same.

Somewhere on the road to being done…

Not my wall, but I wish it was. At least I can lay claim to the painting.

One of the most joyful things about being an artist is surprising oneself. I began this painting from the pleasure of a full basket of August garden vegetables in all of their purple/green/red/orange and yellow lusciousness. This is all in the painting somewhere, but the result is even more than I expected. I just keep thinking of a vegetable carnival.
